so what's with the new logo?

Last updated August 14, 1999

Glad you asked. Seeing that weill.com and weill.net were already taken, I decided to take the plunge and go for weill.org, the only remaining top-level domain name with my last name in it. Not only did this usher in a new era of accessing Jason Weill Web Productions, but it also generated the need for a new, spiffy logo to accompany it. So I started tooling around in the GIMP pixel by pixel, using the same procedure that I could have done with just about any painting program anywhere, and made the stylized blocky logo. (The font style used for the text is very similar to that used on Textware Solutions' Fitaly Keyboard for the Palm Organizer.) The blocky style is a throwback to the old BBS days, where "graphics" designers only had 80 columns by 24 lines of text in which to work, but still managed to make some aesthetically pleasing layouts. Now, as for those three squares underneath the logo:

weill.org

The first square, obviously, is me, in a picture taken from the prom pictures archive. The second is Dot, a character on the cartoon show Animaniacs. The third is Orgg, one of hundreds of creatures found in the collectible card game Magic: The Gathering. Weill, Dot, Orgg. Get it?

You might be wondering why the squares are red, green, and blue. They just are.

The domain weill.org was registered through register.com, and their setup procedure was as painless as they come. If you have a credit card, you can get a domain name. Their SiteLink service for $50 per year will bounce hits received at your domain name to any web site you choose. For $60 per year, you can also get a customized e-mail address, but I passed on that.

legal crap
