spring break 2000

Here are a few pictures taken in sunny (cough) New York during my spring break vacation in 2000.

Perhaps one of the most interesting self-pics I've seen, this perspective features me trying to persuade my brother to give me my camera back, unaware that he's taking pictures under the impression that there's no film left in the camera. I think this shot came out surprisingly well, all things considered. Here's another one that my brothers took. I think I'm about to crush one of them in a bear hug at this point. Unfortunately, Carnegie Mellon's spring break came unusually late this year. As a result, most of my college friends were already back at school by the time that I came home. Seizing perhaps the only opportunity I had to meet up with friends, I took the train into the city to visit New York University, where a few of my friends (plug!) go. Here's a view of my friend Evelina, who doesn't have a web page I can link to yet, in her dorm room. That's one of her roommates milling about in the background. In SoHo, right by NYU, you can find just about anything you can imagine. This sculpture appears to be of a horse biting its own tail. True, I'm only a CS major, but I still fail to see the artistic merit in this. Taking a cue from a picture I successfully took last summer, I decided to try and take a picture by holding a camera at arm's length and hoping for the best. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as well this time. It's me, standing on a large rock formation in Washington Square Park. I have no idea what those dotted lines on the rock are. A quick glance at some of the interesting architecture one finds in SoHo. Two other photographers were taking pictures at this intersection, so I figure it must have some sort of significance to it. That's Evelina in front of one of her favorite sculptures: a woman who apparently has eight pairs of breasts and at least three asses. Why this is one of her favorites is beyond the scope of this blurb.
